Child Safety Standards (CSAE) Policy

1) Our commitment
Haiku has a zero‑tolerance policy for Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation (CSAE). Any content or behavior that sexualizes, harms, exploits, endangers, or targets children is strictly prohibited. We remove such content, disable accounts, and, where legally required or appropriate, report to relevant authorities and hotlines.
2) Scope & definitions
- Child: any person under the age of 18.
- CSAE content: imagery, text, audio, links, or behavior that depicts, promotes, or requests sexualized content involving a child, including grooming, sexual extortion, or commercialization.
- Grooming: actions intended to build trust with a child to facilitate sexual exploitation or abuse, including requests to move to private channels, share sexual images, or keep secrets from guardians.
3) Prohibited content & behavior
Strictly prohibited
- Sexualized content involving children, including cartoons/AI‑generated depictions.
- Grooming, sexual extortion, or solicitation of sexual content from or about children.
- Links to, or instructions for obtaining, CSAE materials.
- Age‑misrepresentation to access adult features or contact minors.
Restricted & removed
- Non‑sexual child nudity or endangerment.
- Ambiguous content involving young‑looking characters in sexualized contexts.
- Any content flagged by users or automated systems pending review.
Allowed examples
- Educational or awareness content about preventing abuse, without sexual imagery.
- Support resources for survivors.
4) Reporting & user tools
Anyone can report suspected CSAE content or behavior in‑app or by email. We prioritize these reports for immediate review.
Include links, usernames, timestamps, and screenshots where possible. Do not forward illegal images; provide URLs and context only.
5) Review, enforcement & escalation
- Priority triage: CSAE reports are fast‑tracked.
- Actions: immediate removal, account suspension/ban, feature restrictions, and preservation of evidence as required by law.
- Mandatory reporting: where legally required or appropriate, we report to relevant authorities or hotlines.
- Repeat offenders: permanent bans and device/account blocking where applicable.
- Appeals: Users can appeal moderation actions via haikuappcontact@gmail.com.
6) Design safeguards
- Default private settings for new or younger users; limited discoverability.
- Contextual warnings and keyword/behavior signals to deter grooming attempts.
- Rate limits and friction on unsolicited DMs and link sharing.
- Human moderation supported by automated detection signals.
7) Age requirements & parental guidance
- Haiku is for users 13+. Users 13–17 should use the app with parental guidance.
- We prohibit sexually explicit content on Haiku and remove material that sexualizes minors.
- Guardians can contact haikuappcontact@gmail.com to request account assistance for minors.
8) Transparency & data handling
- Evidence preservation: We may preserve relevant data to comply with legal obligations and to support investigations.
- Privacy: We minimize access to sensitive data and restrict it to authorized personnel.
- Transparency: Aggregated enforcement statistics may be published in periodic updates.
9) Contact
These mailboxes are monitored. We aim to acknowledge CSAE reports promptly and will prioritize imminent‑harm cases.
10) Updates to these standards
We may update this page to reflect improvements in our safety program or changes in legal requirements. Significant changes will be noted here with an updated effective date.
